Drishti mail: Ayushmann Khurrana recently achieved a career milestone with the remarkable success of Dream Girl 2, which enjoyed the biggest opening in his career, amassing over Rs 86 crore in its first ten days. In a recent interview, Ayushmann delved into the intricacies of creating a sequel and shared his thoughts on the potential for Dream Girl 3.
When discussing the challenges of crafting a sequel, Ayushmann stressed the importance of matching the high standards set by the original film. He was asked about the most challenging aspect of making a sequel, to which he replied, “To live up to the benchmark set by the first film. There are expectations, and you need to achieve at least 70 percent of that benchmark, and that’s sufficient. Meeting this expectation is crucial because it leads to a strong initial response. The audience has always had a penchant for sequels. This trend existed before the pandemic, and now we see it resurging with films like Gadar 2, OMG 2, and Dream Girl 2. However, the success of a sequel depends on the quality of the content.”
When questioned about the potential for Dream Girl 3, Ayushmann Khurrana responded, “I’m not sure; you’d have to inquire with Raaj Shaandilyaa, the director of Dream Girl and Dream Girl 2. If he comes up with an equally unconventional concept like Dream Girl and Dream Girl 2, then we should certainly consider it. If it delivers uproarious moments and fantastic humor, why not? It’s a mass-entertainment film that appeals to the front-row audience, and occasionally, you’ll see me in that avatar alongside my core genre.”
Before the success of Dream Girl 2, Ayushmann had encountered a series of film setbacks, including An Action Hero, Doctor G, Anek, and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. Dream Girl 2 featured a talented ensemble cast, including Paresh Rawal, Manjot Singh, Seema Pahwa, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee, Asrani, Vijay Raaz, and Manoj Joshi in pivotal roles.
